Sole di Sicilia

In this tribute to Sicily, every detail of the scarf has been conceived as a bridge between past and present, between sacred art and Mediterranean softness, between land and light.

Silk twill scarf – 45 × 45 cm

Conceived as a piece of textile artistry, this silk scarf is enriched by a warm palette of gold, ivory, cream and brown tones, evoking the Mediterranean light, the warmth of sunlit stone and the generosity of Sicily.

Baroque ornamentation

Along the borders, finely drawn ornaments evoke the Baroque interiors and façades of Sicilian churches, renowned for their spectacular richness of detail. They recall the splendour of Noto, the exuberance of the Church of the Gesù, and the monumental altars of Palermo, vestiges of an era in which art was at once theatrical, expressive and spiritual.

These arabesques structure the composition and lend the design a timeless elegance.

The pendentives: guardians of the central motif

At the heart of the scarf, the four large ornaments surrounding the circular motif are inspired by the pendentives found beneath Sicilian domes.

These triangular architectural elements create the transition between the square base of a church and its dome, and are often adorned with sumptuous frescoes, stucco sculptures and intricate decorative schemes.

Their presence serves as a tribute to the spirituality deeply rooted in the island's history. Here, they become the symbolic guardians of the central motif, just as pendentives support the dome of a church.

The central medallion

At the centre, a series of concentric circles recalls the tiers of the ancient amphitheatres of Sicily, such as those of Taormina and Syracuse, remnants of a time when the island flourished within the Greco-Roman world.

At the heart of these circles stands a stylised central ornament, an allusion to Mount Etna, the island's majestic volcano and beating heart, as well as to the fertility of Sicilian land.

The island's citrus fruits

Finally, on either side of the scarf, subtle citrus motifs appear throughout the composition. They evoke Sicily's lemons, oranges and mandarins, sun-filled fruits that give the island the feeling of eternal summer.

Arranged in a cross-like formation, they further reinforce the scarf's sense of harmony, balance and sacred geometry.
